Qld: Beattie asks AFP to probe fraud claims
Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE has called on the Australian Federal Police to investigate
allegations of vote rigging levelled at federal ALP candidate JENNY HILL.
His call follows a report in the Townsville Bulletin that the federal police had not
investigated the latest allegations of vote-rigging, as claimed by Ms HILL previously.
In Question Time today, Mr BEATTIE challenged the Townsville pensioner who raised the
allegations to lodge a complaint with police.
Reports that the federal police had not investigated the claims made against Ms HILL
are the latest in the ongoing scandal over electoral fraud, following the jailing of former
ALP state candidate KAREN ERMANN.
EHRMANN was jailed after a Townsville court found her guilty on more than 40 charges
of forging electoral enrolment forms in order to win party preselection ballots.
Ms HILL is Labor's endorsed candidate for the north Queensland Liberal-held seat of Herbert.
